Seiko Fifty Five Fathoms 4R35

Crafted using all brand new parts, including a serviced genuine NOS Seiko 4R35 and titanium Fifty Fathoms style case, it really is the best a Fifty Five Fathoms can be. 

Features:

40mm Titanium Fifty Fathoms style case with blue AR sapphire crystal and display case back. 100m water resistance (55 fathoms, of course!) 

The case is 40mm diameter, 51mm lug to lug, 14.5mm thick and with a 20mm lug width. The case also features a screw down crown, screw down case back and drilled lugs. The bezel is heavily lumed and has a satisfying click when rotated. 

The movement is a genuine Seiko 4R35 automatic that was bought new specifically for this project.

The aluminium dial has been custom made in-house to my own design, incorporating details from classic and modern Blancpain pieces. The classic Blancpain style indices have been lumed by hand and give off a nice green glow to match the hands and bezel. Another rare feature for a Fifty Five Fathoms dial – a date window in the correct place between the 4 and 5, just like it should be! The bottom of the dial reads “AUTOMATIQUE 100 METRES” as a nod to the French-speaking Swiss engineers behind the original. 

The watch is finished off with a black tropic style rubber strap. The strap is fitted with quick release spring bars for quick swapping onto something a bit dressier.
